Fashion Trend : Denim Overalls

As they say, nothing ever goes out of style - it just takes a break and comes back with a bang! Case in point - denim overalls (or dungarees as they are commonly called on the other side of Atlantic) The fashion staple of 80s and early 90s, the denim overalls are here again. Celebrities like Diane Kruger, Alessandra Ambrosio and Sraha Jessica Parker were spotted recently in the cool denim overalls, and I have to say, it made me want to get one pair of myself. (You may soon see me in one!;))

Style Trend: Chevron Stripes

This shirt is just $13. Go ahead, envy.

That's what happens when I go shopping not really looking for a particular piece of clothing! I find great bargains and deals. But when I really need something specific, (specially if I don't have much time and need something right now) somehow retail Gods conspire against me and I find that the item I want is NOWHERE on sale, most likely not available in my size! LOL! Does that happen to you too, or it is just my weird shopping curse??  

The original shirt doesn't have the front bow - I added one with a silk sash (belt from another dress), you can even use it as a belt  for a peplum effect as this shirt is nicely cinched at the back and flares up at the hip when belted! 

I got this shirt at TJ Maxx for just $12.99, go check your local store if they have it, otherwise a good option could be this Modcloth chevron blouse. The Forever 21 jeans was just $20 last year, (good option is this one - also from Forever 21 for just $22) I feel great that I can wear a F21 jeans (which is always short for me) as the on-trend ankle length style!

Trending: Brocade Pants And Capris

I fell in love with brocade when I first saw the fabric as a little girl in India. The shining, rich fabric threaded with gold and silver in detailed patterns oozes opulence. Brocade is a an essential part of an Indian woman's wardrobe - specially her special occasion Saris. (In fact, a decade ago, I wore a brocade Sari for my wedding) Now, this lustrous fabric is taking center stage in the big designer's collections, not in the evening gowns but in trousers and cropped pants!
