For the longest time, I avoided straight stripes thinking it will make me look weird, but this pair of Zara wide leg cropped pants /culottes caught my eyes few months ago and I got them on an impulse. I was waiting for warm day to wear them and got a chance yesterday. I paired these culottes with a Zara top. The black piping on this off shoulder ruffled sleeve top makes it really pop! I love the way its' sleeves move. The cotton poplin fabric gives it a crisp look too. Both of these pieces are old but I found very similar top (Option 1 //Option 2) and very similar pair of pants (Option 1 //Option 2) if you want to try this look.

I can't praise my Everlane Modern Point loafers enough. They are chic, comfortable and go with almost everything.

One of the biggest style trends this year (and last fall too) is all about dramatic sleeves. Ruffles, bell shaped, balloon sleeves, ruffled cuffs, split cuff - you name it. I love this striped ruffle sleeve T from J.Crew Factory for the cute details and of course for the stripes!. It is made with thicker fabric than usual tee shirts, so it keeps its shape but its not stiff or boxy. I like the nautical, preppy vibe of the stripes with feminine ruffles. I got my usual size small and it fits true to size.
These Gap white denim culottes are going to go on repeat this Spring/Summer. They are high waisted and their cinched-at-waist-with-belt look is very slimming. I am also crushing hard on these denim culottes with belt!

How To Wear Culottes

Culottes (Q-Lots) are the new pants. No, really! the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 runway trends were a big signal that culottes will of the new 'it' pants. However, I have to add they were popular when I was in middle school, and in India we called them 'Divided Skirts'. Well, that is fashion, always comes to full circle!

BTW, ASOS some great styles for culottes - from solid colors to prints and patterns and in various lengths. I got the pleated culottes as they fit my tall frame well.
