Things To Do In NYC : Date Night At Madame Tussaud's

They say New York City is the perfect place date nights. Whatever your interests are, this City has got you covered! Whether it is dinner and a movie, or a show, or a picnic in the park, you can always count on NYC for a good time. Since moving to the area, for past three years, I have had the pleasure to sample the wonderful things New York has to offer. One thing missing from my NYC experience was Madame Tussaud's wax museum. I assumed (so wrongly!) that it's a place to visit with a big group of friends/family, and somehow my plan to visit Madame Tussaud's kept getting postponed. But last week, hubby and I decided to have our date night right at the heart of the City - at Madame Tussaud's! I can't tell you how much fun this place is - by the time we were done seeing all the figures inside the museum, we were grinning from ear to ear and then we laughed some more on our way back home, looking at all the pictures we took!

I gave some tips on 'how to have a happy marriage' to Mr Clooney!
The wax figures are so realistic in person and once you know the effort behind the process, you really appreciate the art and science behind it. Well, that and all the fun photo ops you get as you are allowed to get really close to them!

Don't worry, it was harmless fun and Angie didn't even see anything!!;-)

Hubby dear immediately got back to me for that stolen kiss! LOL!

Our date night at Madame Tussaud's was an instant hit. The super accessible location of the museum (right near to Times Square) made it possible for my husband to meet me there right after work, saving him a trip back home!
Madame Tussaud's has more than 200 wax figures in its New York location. From singers to actors to sports icons and politicians and royalty, Madame Tussaud's has something for everyone. I am actually planning to bring Mili soon to show her the wax figures of our past Presidents, sports stars and world leaders! She can tread the yellow brick road with Dorothy, ride the bike with E.T., and even sign the constitution with Benjamin Franklin! How much fun!!

For all you fans of Bollywood out there, there are wax figures of the biggest Indian film stars in Madame Tussaud's. Seeing Shahrukh Khan (the quintessential romance hero of modern Indian cinema) and Amitabh Bachchan ( possibly one of the biggest stars in the world, popularity-wise!) were alone worth the ticket money!:-) My husband made sure to take a picture with the signature smirk/smile of Mr Khan on his face to once again remind me why I love him so much!!

Some facts worth remembering before your visit -
1 - If you book your tickets online, you can save 20%. The tickets are valid upto a year from the date of purchase.
2 - Madame Tussaud's is one of the biggest attractions in NYC. So it is busy with tourists and locals alike. Make sure to wear comfortable clothes and shoes in case you need to wait to get in.
3 - You need at least an hour and a half to see and enjoy the museum. Make sure you have enough time for your visit.
4 - No outside food is allowed inside, but you can buy it from the museum's beverage area.
5 - If you are visiting from out of town and have luggage with you, make sure to leave it in your hotel or in the car. For security reasons, luggage is not allowed inside. For most other items, there are lockers available.
6 - There are wheelchairs available free of charge, but due to limited numbers, it is advised that you call in advance. You can take strollers inside.
