I fell in love with brocade when I first saw the fabric as a little girl in India. The shining, rich fabric threaded with gold and silver in detailed patterns oozes opulence. Brocade is a an essential part of an Indian woman's wardrobe - specially her special occasion
Saris. (In fact, a decade ago, I wore a brocade
Sari for my wedding) Now, this lustrous fabric is taking center stage in the big designer's collections, not in the evening gowns but in trousers and cropped pants!

During New York Fashion Week for Fall 2013, brocade pants made the runways glitter, specially at Vera Wang's Fall 2013 collection! Good enough for Vera, good enough for me:-)

As I travel to India after almost 5 years, I am once again overwhelmed with the textures, colors and grandeur of rich fabrics, brocade being one of them. I don't think I can wait until fall to have a tailor-fit brocade pants in my wardrobe! A slim fit brocade trouser with a chiffon blouse, hello Spring!!
