Red And Leopard

Sometimes I wonder, technology was supposed to make us smarter. We were supposed to be more evolved because of the 'modern' times. We were supposed to cure diseases, conquer space, build glorious structures - all in all, we were supposed to be the torch bearers of the magical times we call 21st century! But the more I look around, I find we are actually not all that smart - (we are losing vowels, joining syllables  to string together a sentence, trusting Siri to not let us take a wrong turn while driving- even though we should know better!), we are not building or conquering much, in fact we are depleting the inherent goodness and kindness of our souls with each passing day. I am shell shocked at the brutality and sheer mindless violence that  surrounds us, the shocking second class treatment of women in my country of birth, the bitterness and anger of the 'anonymous' on the internet forums and website comment boxes, the smallness of our lives! Somehow the cold, toxic bitterness is seeping in, maligning the hope and positivity in its wake - and I am left asking myself - what is the  point? Fashion, style, clothes. accessories seem such trivial topics to discuss amid the chaos of the world that seems to disappoint us with its lack of humanity. But perhaps these are the perfect distraction to the world weary heart and mind. So here I am, weary-to-the-core, bitterly disappointed, but still clinging to my once-thought-everlasting hope that may be we will rise up to the challenge, proving to past generations that when the dark times descended on humanity, generation Y answered with resolve. And that we did not let humanity die.

  2. You could write a separate post acknowledging the violence instead of clubbing it with a superficial fashion post. It loses its importance this way.

    1. Hi Anonymous - that is the reason I wrote this. It shows how impotent we are. We continue with our lives because we have to. We have to combine frivolous with deep because we have to. Continue living and doing what we have to in order to rail against the rage.

  3. You are so right, Jyoti. Technology can be a blessing and a curse at the same time. And the shocking incident in India saddens and disgusts me. It's always good to take a moment to do a reality check and stay grounded. Great message.

And also, GREAT look. I love love your outfit here...

  5. I think we need the joys found in little things (like our fashion blogs) to smooth the rough edges of everything that you mentioned :) Your red and leopard combo look is stunning!

  6. I think that my makeup blogging honestly is just a separate facet of my soul. During the day, I'm a serious, "nerdy" kid who no one would even think was capable of putting on mascara, or eyeliner, simply because I'm not bothered to do so on a daily basis. But somehow, I want to reconcile that part of me with the actress, the debater and the academic. I'm only my complete "deep" self with specific people. And that sucks. But that frivolity keeps me sane. So I'll keep it for my mental health ;)

  12. It is sad to see the state of things as they are today but if we dwell on it and make it sadden us then that's all it is ever going to do and make us feel unless we actually now decide to get up, acknowledge it and try to make a change even if it is in the smallest way possible. With so much negativity everywhere it does prove difficult but changing that around and looking for something positive in it is a good start.

Talking about fashion and outfits it is the same with finding joy and pleasure in the small things and that's why I think it makes us happy to dress up.
I love the ensemble - red and leopard print just makes any outfit work.

    Happy new year!

  16. This outfit is gorgeous! I love leopard print and it always pairs so well with black and red! I understand everything about what you are saying though, we may be getting more advanced with technology, but as a species we are getting worse. I really like your blog! I'm glad that I found it! It would be nice if you could stop by my blog sometime too (I'm from England) as I post my outfits, personal style, likes and much more :) :)
