Recap: Look Good Feel Better Beauty Editors Day Event at Saks Fifth Avenue

If you are my twitter buddy, you must have known about my participation in the national Beauty Editors Day event at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York. The details of which you can read in my article on examiner.com. But in case you missed it, here are some more photos and details of the great event. Look Good Feel Better, the organization helping cancer patients with beauty and hair advice to adjust with the appearance related changes caused by treatments, brought the first ever Beauty Editors Day to US.  LGFB partnered with 32 leading magazines' beauty editors and top brands for a fundraiser and awareness campaign for the organization.
Beauty Editors of nation's top magazines gather at Saks Fifth avenue, NYC for LGFB event

The event gave customers an opportunity to have a one on one 20 minutes consultation with a beauty editor at a leading beauty brand's counter at Saks Fifth Avenue. The editors discussed the fall trends for beauty and makeup and previewed the latest products while the beauty experts gave participants a mini-makeover. The ticket for the event and consultation was $30 benefiting the LGFB program.

The Look Good Feel Better program offers free workshops and support to people with cancer to provide lessons on cosmetics, skin and nail care, wigs, turbans, accessories and wardrobe styling to help mitigate the appearance-related side effects of their treatment. Since the program began 23 years ago, it has served more than 800,000 people with cancer in the U.S. and more than 1.2 million people with cancer around the world.
Look out for LGFB Beauty Editors Day next year and make sure to attend and be a part of this wonderful cause.

And now the exciting announcement! The winner of the limited edition Oscar de la Renta scarf is Allison of A's Fashion Files!! Congrats Allison - people from LGFB will be in touch with you shortly!

The Story Of Colored Denim: Inspired By DailyBuzz Style 9x9

My favorite thing about Daily Buzz Style 9x9 is that it shows how a singular trend can be interpreted by different bloggers in different ways! I love reading about my favorite Daily Buzz Style bloggers' take on DIYs, fashion trends, and outfit styles and make it their own. When Daily Buzz Style asked me to put together a post inspired by Daily Buzz Style Top 9, I wanted to tell the story of my own take on a popular trend of the year - colored denim! I wore it all through Spring and Summer and now loking for ways to take it into the Fall! Here is the photo-story of my colored denim - of the ones I have and and of the ones I covet!

Rust or dark brown works really well for fall season. Just add a pumpkin muffin and steaming cup of joe!

Here are some of my favorite colored jeans picks - worthy of buzz, plenty of buzz!

Satisfying My Sweet Tooth With Zero Calories Natural Sweetener Nectresse

This post brought to you by NECTRESSE™Sweetener. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love desserts after meals, I love my tea/coffee really sweet  sweet, I always take the bigger piece of pie, thank you very much! Simply put - I have a sweet tooth. But I want to enjoy this sweetness without guilt or love handles! So I am always on the look out for natural alternatives for good old granulated sugar. Lucky for me, my quest has come to an end! I recently discovered the new sweetener - NECTRESSE™Sweetener! Made from a real fruit - monk fruit extract, Nectresse is 100% natural and zero calories per serving!  Nectresse comes from the makers of Splenda Sweeteners and derives its natural sweetness from the monk fruit - a small green melon that has grown in remote mountain regions of Asia for hundreds of years. Nectresse is deliciously sweet with ZERO calories! That means I can have my cake and eat it too! I tried Nectreese in one of my favorite breakfast (and snack) of yogurt parfait I have to tell you, Nectresse tastes as good as the regular sugar with all the benefits of calorie free sweetener! Can't wait to use Nectresse in desserts, pancakes, shakes and smoothies and my favorite cup of tea!  My little one and I had a great time sampling the fruits of my labor! (well who I am kidding, the recipe is super easy and totally guilt free!)

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup non-fat vanilla Greek (or regular) yogurt
  • 2 packets of Nectresse natural no calorie sweetener
  • 3/4 cup mixed fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • 2 tablespoons low-fat granola
Directions
  • Mix Nectresse sweetener into the yogurt
  • Spoon half of the yogurt mixture into a clear serving glass. Top with half of the berries. Top with remaining yogurt, then remaining berries. If you want to make it in smaller servings, use smaller cups and layer the yogurt and berries mixture accordingly.
  • Sprinkle granola on the top

I am not the only health conscious fan of Nectreese. America's favorite journalist Lisa Ling loves it too. See for yourself what she has to say about Nectresse!

Nectresse is available now in grocery stores, drug stores, supercenters and online. You can buy the box of 40 single serving packets for $3.99 or a canisters of 140 servings (with a multipurpose lid for sprinkling, pouring or spooning) for $6.99. Try the FREE sample of NECTRESSE™Sweetener and discover the sweet delicious secret yourself!

Summer Trend - Floral Shirt, Cork Wedges, Colorful Clutches

Are you little sad (just a teeny bit, may be?) that summer is coming to an end soon? Although I love fall and it is my favorite season to dress up, I will miss the sunny bright days (when it is not scorching), lazy evenings, fresh berries and watermelon for lunch and watching beautiful summer sunsets! But every season brings a new hope, new beginnings and new fashion with it, so I guess I should just enjoy the moment and enjoy the today!

Review of A Less-Than-Perfect Dress

Have you heard of the online retailer sheinside.com? I usually like their stuff, although it is a bit expensive for the run-of-the-mill, mas-produced, use-and-throw clothing. (see some of my picks from them herehere and here) I received this dress which is poorly designed with the front that looks like scarp of cloth panels haphazardly sewn together  (it looks much better in the pictures on their website). The material is very cheap looking and feels synthetic. The bow at the neck is supposed to go at the back, but the cut of the dress is so awkward that just to make dress hang on my frame, I had to loop it around my neck and tie as a neck tie. I had received it as a courtesy from sheinside.com to style it on the blog, but if someone has to pay $45 for this, they will be really really disappointed.
My purpose here is not to say that all their stuff is bad, but to show you that when buying stuff online (specially from China) make sure you get a good and clear idea of how the piece of clothing might look in real life! I have nothing against them, but I don't want to say great things about a brand just because they sent me free stuff. I value my readers more:-) I have withdrawn my blog from their sponsorship program given the fact that I won't be able to dilute my reviews under the sponsorship obligations.
Can you see the ugly bisecting stitching right in the middle of the dress??

The dress may not be perfect, but these shoes (c/oMyHotShoes) sure are! Get them or any other shoes you fancy from MyHotShoes.com and get 20% off with the coupon code DELIGHT2
*EDIT - BTW, My blogger friend BravoeRunway pointed out that this dress is a knock off from the Marni for H&M Collection. I guess they used the scarps and cuttings form Marni factory to whip up the look-a-like!
